Brady Cloud: "I Love The Big U!"

While Brady Cloud is too young to have traveled aboard America’s Flagship during her legendary career as a transatlantic liner, he’s been an avid fan of ocean liners for most of his life. Now an undergraduate student in Missouri studying architecture, Brady recently contacted the SS United States Conservancy to share his treasured model of the SS United States and tell us why he’s such a passionate supporter of the Big U.

Speaking with the Conservancy, Brady said, “In first grade I read a book on the sinking of the RMS Titanic. Since then, I have loved ships and history, and maritime history has become a passion of mine. It wasn’t until I saw Bright Sun Films’ documentary film about the SS United States that I learned about her equally incredible history….There is just something about the Big U that's different from any other cruise ship, aircraft carrier, or even the SS United States' rival, the RMS Queen Mary.“

Brady, who became a member of the Conservancy as a monthly donor on his 18th birthday, recalls Conservancy President Susan Gibbs saying about the ship, "She's a survivor!" and Brady agrees. That is one of many reasons he feels passionately that America’s Flagship must be preserved.

On behalf of the SS United States Conservancy’s leadership and its network of supporters around the globe, we say “three cheers” to you, Brady, for your deep commitment to an endearing and enduring symbol of our nation.
