The mid-century modern style of the Unrushables inspired more than just an advertising campaign. These illustrations that filled up the pages of The New Yorker and other magazines, were also considered art. It’s not surprising that these characters were used for travel posters for the SS United States. Travel posters were unique in that they encouraged engagement and collection as works of art themselves, having been displayed on the walls of agencies and homes alike, while also serving their purpose to encourage tourism through enticing and exciting imagery.
